Quotable Sunday ~ Quitting Diet Coke Cold Turkey

Remember the Diet Coke and Mentos thing? That and the rusty nails in Diet Coke were never enough to make me quit drinking Diet Coke. Most of you know that I'm a pretty health conscious person and that this is the one habit I have not been able to, nor really wanted to, quit. Well, I'm finally taking the plunge and have now been
Diet Coke free for 36 hours! I'm actually doing fine. I've been drinking a lot of water, a LOT of water. I don't drink coffee and DC was usually my way to start the day, so it feels a little off to be drinking water right now but other than that, I'm feeling pretty good.

My quotes for today are about Diet Coke and habits....

Diet Coke with lemon?  Didn't that used to be called Pledge?
Jay Leno

First we form habits, then they form us. Conquer your bad habits or they will conquer you.
Ron Gilbert

You leave old habits behind by starting out with the thought, "I release the need for this in my life".
Wayne Dyer

The unfortunate thing about this world is that good habits are so much easier to give up than bad ones.

This one is my fave. Going to share with a group of ladies I'm doing a weight-loss challenge with.

I'm also trying to kick the soda habit. Went a whole month and had a Coke yesterday. I think that's not too bad!

    Happy Sunday!

Good luck! I've never had a craving or full out addiction to pop, Coke or otherwise, but from what I've heard and seen it is very real and very strong.

    You can do it!!

The thought of drinking Pledge makes it a bit less appealing. Way to go on making the decision to quit.

I am addicted to Diet Coke.
    There, I admitted it.
Hence, this entry scares the crap out of me.

Good luck my friend, good luck.....

WTG on quitting soda!!!!! I have always hated carbonation so have never understood the appeal of soda (or anything carbonated) at all.

Oh, you are a brave one! Great quotes - maybe they'll encourage me to give up my Diet coke addiction??

    Um. Yeah. Maybe not!

Congratulations! I'm curious how it goes for you. I'm a sugar addict and am toying with the idea of giving it up. Hope it keeps feeling pretty easy for you!

We are on similar kick the habit journeys. I'll bail you out of jail if you bail me out. My quote today is about my feelings on being without my dear sweet tea.

Kudos to you! I gave up coffee with my pregnancies and missed it all 9 months then went right back, lol.

Keep up the good work :D
Love the last quote, so true unfortunately.

    You are doing great.

I couldn't do it. I NEED my caffeine or else I couldn't get through the day.

I also quit the mighty DC cold turkey a few years ago. I replaced it with juice spritzers (1 part juice to 3 parts mineral water) and it was surprisingly easy. Of course, I did quit smoking at exactly the same time so maybe it just seemed easy in comparison. Good luck! You're doing the right thing.

I quit drinking colas about a year ago. I don't miss them much after the initial shock of it. Good luck

    I'm so proud of you!!!

I have a bad addiction to Coca Cola. Not diet either.

I know how hard it is to switch to something else.

    Good Luck!

The Jay Leno quote is too funny! Never been much a Diet Coke person myself, more of a Dr Pepper girl.

Good for you. I just can't imagine giving up diet coke. Although I did give it up while I was pregnant. I just have to have my diet coke fix (especially fountain diet coke).
