Expedition FUN at The Denver Museum of Nature and Science

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science has hit it way out of the ballpark with the new permanent exhibit Expedition Health. My kids had such a great time that they can't stop talking about it! I love the sentiment behind what they have decided to call this exhibit because it truly reflects the thought that has gone into making this not just a plain old exhibit about the human body but a true expedition into each visitor's own body.

We each received a Peak Pass where we entered information about ourselves. At the stations throughout the exhibit different information was recorded onto the pass and at the end we printed out a personal profile. You are able to record things like heart rate, stride speed and length, height versus arm length and a series of other measurements. They even have a website where you can continue with other activities after you have left the museum. (The marketer in me loves this part ;))

This a picture of the boys using their brain waves to move a ball!

Here you can change the screen to have different body system views and you stand on a circle and the image will mirror your movements.

This picture below is from "Pirates of the Human Body". A very entertaining and interactive presentation on good and bad bacteria.

This exhibition is by far the best interactive experience I have ever enjoyed with my children. We love the space exhibit but the engagement factor pales in comparison to Expedition Health. My kids are 9,6, and 4 and each of them were able to relate and enjoy the majority of stations in the exhibit. Even my 4 year old was engaged and interested. We stayed in the exhibit for over an hour and a half and the kids were in no hurry to leave. I appreciate the fact that they require a reserved time to visit the exhibit in order to limit the number of people going through at a time. Because the exhibit is still fairly new, it was a tad busy at times. All in all, we did not have to wait too long for anything other than the aging station, which was very popular. If you are looking for a fun family outing in Denver, I highly recommend visiting the Denver Museum of Science and Nature but don't forget to go online HERE and reserve a time for Expedition Health before you go.
