Art By Nemo ~ Denver's Hottest New Artist

Denver has a hot new artist. This is something you won't see from anyone else and the guy who creates it is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

His name is Nemo and he draws circles with pencils. Lots and lots of circles. Perfect freehand circles. People from all over commission Nemo's work and his pieces are destined for collector status. (In my unprofessional, unschooled, but kick-ass opinion)

He's perched high above the city of Denver, looking out over the 16th Street Mall, straight out to the mountains. A perfectly inspirational view. I am jealous of Nemo's little Mile High studio.

Each day @artbynemo treats his twitter followers to updates on the various works of art he is creating. This is how I met Nemo - via twitter. I was instantly intrigued by his ability to reach out and converse with so many different people, all the while promoting his artwork in the background. A true social media genius (he'll like that I wrote that). I asked Nemo if I could come visit him and learn more about what he does.

We met up a few weeks ago at his downtown studio. He explained the progression of his art from primarily abstract acrylic on canvas paintings to his current style, his trademark style. Like many artists, Nemo needed to pay the bills and was led to a desk job as an architectural draftsman . The self described life long "doodler" spent his lunch time drawing and ultimately discovered a style all his own, where his focus is not the subject, but the method by which he creates. It is a fun story and you can read more about this discovery on his website artbynemo.com.

Nemo and his adorably cute wife Hannah came to Denver from San Antonio, TX about four months ago. In that short period of time, he has succeeded in reaching out to many in the community and even has his first solo show running at Vain Salon at 1890 Pennsylvania in Denver. I attended the opening and it was very clear that Nemo has many fans! He had sold several pieces earlier in the day even before the show had officially opened.

Vain Salon owner, Tina, is a very big supporter of the arts. You can see local artists' work here frequently. See the website for upcoming artists and dates.

So, if you see @artbynemo on twitter, say hello - he always answers back! You can also read his blog The Soon To Be More Famous Artist Named Nemo.

Yes, Fiona, apart from "draftsman" - which could very well be the accepted American form of spelling - your copy is very clean! :) Great post on Nemo... and excellent work by him! Warmest wishes, Fred Hatman http://www.fredhatman.co.za
